Spring Reset Routine

Why Spring Is the Most Aligned Time for a Spring Reset Routine

The very nature of spring itself whispers promises of new beginnings. Everything is brighter, and the days growing warmer. While the beginning of the new year can be filled with anticipation, and an eagerness to reinvent everything all at once. When thinking of the perfect moment to reset and recalibrate Spring is among the top five for sure. That gentle sweet spot of having enough time to get settled into a New Year, and having a good idea of the habits, and systems that are working for you and reassessing the ones that are not currently serving you. Spring also serves as a great reminder to shed the old.

The first season change of a new year, that sets the tone for change, but still holds the promise of an amazing year ahead. While we may be pulling out our brooms and rearranging our spaces, a personal reorganization and decluttering is just as essential.

What a Spring Reset Routine Is and What It Isn’t

Its important to note that an effective Spring reset is subjective. It is not defined by the what you do or how long your tasks list is, but rather answering the question “what aligns with the woman I am setting out to be?” Sitting down and getting clear about these things will help you to move away from the pressure of productivity and into a space of doing things that support your identity.

A spring reset encourages should encourage you to take a moment to rest and reflect, and then take action. Not based off of what you should be doing, or what’s trending, but the key is to be rooted in authenticity. Whether that be your hobbies, your environment, or your boundaries.

A great spring reset routine starts and begins with being clear and intentional about creating a life that reflects your future self.

The Spring Reset Routine That Makes Everything Feel Possible

Step 1: Clear What No Longer Belongs (Mental, Emotional, Physical)

When creating your spring reset ritual, the first step like in many things, is to take a moment to reflect. Spring is likely the first check in since the new year has begun. After the dust has settled from the excitement of starting a new year, planning out your goals, and settling back into your every day routine after indulging in the slowness that the holidays offered – it’s the perfect time for a gentle check in.

Begin looking at the things that you have both started in this new year whether it be habits, or new goals, but also look at the things that you might have carried over from the previous year. With the holiday season blending from one year to the next it’s easy to ease into some of the same spaces that we were in.

The things that you might have carried over which could be anything from feelings of being behind, or loneliness and even the good like contentment and gratitude. There is no right or wrong ever in taking a careful look at what serves you and what doesn’t.

These moments of reflection provide a clear direction or where to start decluttering. And that’s what comes next. Carve out moments where you can declutter different areas of your life one corner at a time. To help you get started here are a few areas that I hit that leave me feeling accomplished and fulfilled.

1. Home

a. clear out all of your old mail that you’ve been promising to shred for a while.

b. Clear out the junk in your junk drawer (yes, everyone has one)

c. Clear out your nightstand

d. Clear out your pantry and fridge

e. All of your old undies that you’ve been holding onto for years – goodbye

2. Digital

a. Declutter your email inbox

b. Unfollow accounts that no longer serve you

c. Delete photos from your cameral roll that are simply taking up space

3. Mental

Brain dump in your journal. Afterwards you can burn it or shred it. A simple task but there is so much relief in getting thoughts and feelings onto paper and simply letting them go.

4. Time

a. Get rid of habits that take up time and don’t align with who you’re becoming

b. Release time commitments that drain your energy

Step 2: Reintroduce Beauty Into the Everyday

As the saying goes “out with the old, in with the new”, Just as decluttering and shedding are important, refilling that time and space intentionally are just as important. The purpose is to step out of the routine of things that happen to and around you, and things that randomly appear. And instead carefully crafting each morning and corner to serve as a reminder of who you are becoming.

Spring holds so much beauty in itself, and this season we will make it a duty to explore that beauty while also creating it. One of my favorite things to do is while on my morning walks, before I start my favorite podcast, or queue my feel-good playlist is to carve out those first few minutes to just be present. Often times it begins as a little quiet time with Jesus, and dwarfs into this contented gratitude fest. Suddenly I’m able to see so clearly hear the joy of dogs barking and panting joyously at a nearby dog park, and the sound of my own footsteps. Each step serving as a reminder of just how blessed I am that my body can do the simple things like carry me on my journey.

Gratitude is not just an action - it’s a lense. Choosing to lift this lense up to the world this season will help us to fill each moment in awe of the beauty this life holds. It’s a wonder to witness such beauty, but we can also create it in every day with a little clarity and intention. Here are a few simple ways that I incorporate beauty in my every day that I can attest are worth it!

  1. Do a little dance in the morning

  2. Giving someone a compliment out loud

  3. Creating a “Spring Playlist”

  4. Watching one of your comfort movies

  5. Wearing a pajama set to bed

  6. Shopping for your scent of the season

  7. Keep fresh flowers around your home

  8. Host a wine night or book club

It’s not about doing anything extravagant, but rather making the simple luxuries the norm. This creates a ritual that nourishes soul. It’s not performative, and not for the benefit of anyone else, but you.

Step 3: Create a Soft Structure That Supports Your Life

Now it’s time to take the beauty of simple things and turning them into a ritual. No matter what brings you joy and contentment, here is a little framework for making sure they are engrained in your day:

  • One grounding morning habit

  • One evening ritual that signals rest

  • One weekly reset or reflection practice

  • One journal prompt theme for each week

  • One physical activity that brings you joy

This spring reset routine should feel realistic and supportive, not overwhelming and restrictive. You don’t have to do everything all at once. The beauty of each season is that it’s just that - a season. Where this Spring reset routine may focus on your time and social life, next season you may prioritize learning and making an impact.

Step 4: Begin Living in Alignment With the Season You’re Entering

Now the final step is simply to begin. With this spring reset, every day should feel like your very own proof of the woman you’re becoming. It should feel inevitable. Envision the woman that you are becoming, the woman you want to be. The best version of yourself. Your days should confirm that. Not in how busy you are, but how intentional you are. Curating your dream life instead of merely living. This means honoring yourself in everything. Inviting rest when you need it, without guilt. Protecting your peace. And trusting yourself. Making each day a deposit that your future self will thank you for.

This spring reset is different than redecorating, or deep cleaning and decluttering. This reset is led by your identity. Answering the question of who you are and who you want to be and letting that be the driving force for what this season brings. I hope this Spring you feel inspired, and encouraged to reset, and reflect. If nothing else Spring shows us time and time again the beauty in beginning again.
