There’s something sacred about a fresh new morning. For the woman who chooses grace over chaos and beauty over busy, morning routines are more than a routine. They’re a ritual.

These tips for a romantic and intentional morning routine will help guide you through curating the perfect soft morning routine with a *bonus* morning routine visual schedule, that will prepare you for the most productive and soulful day ahead. Every new morning is a blessing in itself. Embarking on your day grounded and glowing is as essential on your to-do list as everything else.

 

 

A Romantic Morning Routine

The key to romanticizing your morning routines is by focusing on the how. Yes, you’ll need to eventually get out of bed, and yes, you’ll need to have breakfast, but adding purpose and intention to each of these tasks is where the magic lies. No matter what you do treat every moment as a privilege that you get to do instead of what you have to do.

 Sleep Schedule

Everything revolves around good sleep. Your mood, productivity, and brain power are benefited by consistent and adequate sleep. Everyone is different when it comes to determining how much sleep is appropriate, however research shows that a safe spot is anywhere between 7-9 hours. Ways to create a good environment for sleep is to shut down screen time an hour or two before bed, no late night snacking, and keep your room dark. Sleep is so important in starting each day recharged. Once you find the perfect sleep routine that works,  be sure to be consistent. Plan your sleep schedule so you aren’t trying to snooze up until the last minute, instead ensuring that you wake up well rested and still have time to commit to your morning ritual.

 

Hydration &  A Good Breakfast

Hydration is key to so many things in general. Like sleep, proper hydration is tied up into so many parts of our bodies’ important functions. From focus, to heart health, to starting the day with more energy. Water is always a great choice, but taking time to brew a cup of your favorite tea is a great way to slow down and take a moment to nourish your body. Add in a nice nutritious breakfast and sit and enjoy. You can even light a candle to make the moment more special.

 

No Electronics

A great way to begin your day clear headed is by being in the present. A way to practice is by mirroring similar screen time boundaries as you do preparing for sleep. For example, restricting screen time an hour or two before bed, and also restricting screen time an hour or two after waking up. Often times if we are on our devices it’s easy to venture onto social media out of habit without our brain even realizing it. There may be a news story that upsets you, or seeing someone online and beginning to compare your life, or just idle scrolling without a purpose. Starting your day with limited screen time helps you start your day with intention the way you want before inviting outside stimuli in to influence your mood. Practice Affirmations & Gratitude

Affirmations and Gratitude are essential to speaking life into yourself and your day. It shifts the focus from the stresses of your to do list and brings you back to the present. Gratitude is a powerful practice that serves as the lens in which you see the things around you when you step out of your door.  Here are a few easy simple ones to get you started:

  • “Every day I become a more confident and powerful version of myself”

Taking care of your skin is another part of taking care of your body. Your shower and skin-care should be a ritual that you delight in. No matter how long of a shower you choose this is another moment for you to set the pace and meditate, exfoliate, and wash away any thoughts that don’t serve you.

 

Curate Your Outfit

Taking time to indulge in the art of getting dressed is worth the time, intention, and effort. Your 5-10 minute decision will be how you show up in the world for the entire day. The most important thing is to dress for you. Compliments are nice, but you are the first person who will appreciate your effort and it will always be the most important! Anything else is just a bonus.

 

Play Music

Music is such a small, intimate way to romanticize mundane moments in life. Think of music as the soundtrack of your life. Plan for Purpose

When planning for the day ahead it’s nice to have an organized idea of what’s ahead and how to be most productive, though it can be a stressor in itself to when you’ve created a mile long list for yourself before 8am. Instead, plan for what your purpose for the day will be. Let’s say your purpose for the day is to be inquisitive and ambitious. This will help you frame your to-do list with a goal in mind of why you want to do these things and inspire you to complete each one with purpose.

 

One Achievement Before You Walk Out of the Door

The easiest task to ensure one achievement in the morning is making your bed. It doesn’t require much time, and your future self will thank you. However, there are so many other ways you can earn small achievement before you step out of the door. Whether it’s completing a lesson on Duolingo, or putting a load of laundry away before you leave, the biggest part is you’re starting your day with a whisper of pride in completing something. So if you don’t get to check off everything on that to-do list you wrote yourself, you’ve already completed at least one thing.

 

Move Your Body

It could be a quick 5 minute walk around the neighborhood, a 10 minute at home yoga session, or a 15 minute stretch, this small action is also linked to increasing your focus and creativity for the day and elevates your mood.
