Sunday Reset Routine

What Is a Sunday Reset?

A Sunday reset is more than a list of chores. Rather it’s a pause to allow space to recalibrate and step into a new week with intention. At it’s core it’s about creating space for yourself, to declutter your mind, tidy your home, do the things the fuel you, and plan your schedule. And with that as the foundation you may see many people use a Sunday reset checklist, to organize these things on paper and track tasks. Each task being checked off one by one instantly boosting your mood with productivity. But a truly meaningful Sunday reset routine is when you find your rhythm with intentionality with a ritual that honors you today, and serves you tomorrow.

A Sunday reset routine isn’t for the people who have all the time in the world. It’s for the woman who wants to make time. Getting away from the assignments and obligations of the week and letting intention and stillness be the driver.

Be sure to download your free checklist at the bottom!

Why a Sunday Reset Changes Your Entire Week

“the secret to getting ahead is getting started” – Mark Twain

A Sunday Reset routine not only maps out your intention for the day, but it orders your steps for the week ahead. Setting the tone for how you will show up for the week. It’s not meant to hold the angst and dread of the typical Sunday scaries, that’s exactly what we are trying to avoid. Instead it’s to create a new normal of Sundays being days we cherish. Making our week ahead a week we’re eager to step into.

If you tend to feel the dread of Monday, or your week as the evening sun sets then this is your sign to rewrite your narrative. A gentle and hopeful ease into your week will invite more confidence and less stress. More eagerness and less dread. It becomes less of looking at your week ahead and all the things you have to do, and getting into the mindset of each day being filled with things you get to do. You become the woman who prepares, and lives out her life with care. The contents of your calendar matter far less than how you choose to show up and carry on in your days ahead. That all begins with your reset and mindset shift.

The Complete Sunday Reset Checklist for a Beautiful Week Ahead

Area 1: Creating a Calm, Beautiful Environment

Your environment can be a reflection of you, just as it can be an influence on your mood, energy, and wellbeing. Have you ever experienced the small joy of sliding into your bed with freshly washed sheets that still hold a bit of warmth after you’ve just tucked the last corner? Or sipping coffee in the morning in your favorite chair? These little joys make up the warmth that we feel in our own homes. Our homes are our safe space, where we merely exist, and the outside worlds stays outside. So with that in mind here are a few little resets for your space that do more than just alter your environment.

  1. Wash your bedding, so when you rest your bed is just as fresh as your start to the week.

  2. Create a simmer pot. This is a fun one because you can play around with herb and fruit combinations as your mood or seasons change.

  3. Have soft music playing. Whether its a record player, worship music, or soft ballads of wood instruments. You'll find that you can't help but to slow your pace a little to match the tempo of the music.

  4. Place fresh flowers on a new surface. Inviting nature into your home in a beautiful such as this makes any surface just breath with more life. Whether it be your entry way, your bathroom countertop, or bedside table you cant go wrong!

Area 2: A Soft Sunday Reset for Mental & Emotional Clarity

Our mind and our thoughts hold so much power. Just as the worries and stressors of life can feel suffocating, joy and gratitude can feel like freedom. Not to say life will not hold challenges, but taking control of our thoughts and building mental fortitude paves the way for creating a beautiful life day by day. I’m sure you’ve heard countless times the importance of gratitude, and ways to show it, but its for good reason I promise! Studies have shown that gratitude can improve your emotional resilience, and reduce stress. Making gratitude a practice also rewires our brains and impacts our nervous system in ways that improve our quality of sleep, reduces anxiety, and even improves digestion. That’s just a small practice that proves how much our mental and physical wellbeing are connected. So we can’t improve one without the other!

  1. Journal for at least 5 minutes.

  2. Keep a gratitude journal, and make it less of a list, and more of a reflection. Really sit and reflect on the things you’re grateful for in these moments.

  3. Visualize what your best self looks like this week. This may be a time where you pull out your vision board that you made for the year as another reminder. Look at your week ahead, and visualize what this version of you looks like.

Area 3: Gentle Physical Reset

Just as I mentioned earlier how our mental and physical wellbeing are so intwined, we cant cultivate a true reset without a reset of both our mind and body.

  1. Take atleast a 30 minute walk. Not a full on gym session, not a run. A walk, in nature if you can. Whether you bring a podcast, audiobook, or just walk in silence. Theres something so grounding about taking a walk in nature.

  2. Make your normal shower and skin care routine your golden routine on Sunday. This may look like an every day shower with all your favorite scrubs and oils. This may look like a little red light therapy action long before your evening skincare routine. Simply put, this should feel like a ritual in itself.

  3. Plan your outfits for the week. The well rested, and patient version of you will almost always curate a better outfit than the version of you that is in a rush, and wishing for maybe just a few minutes more of sleep. Trust me on this, your future self will thank you. This little step ensures your making one more action towards showing up as the woman you want to be. The woman you envision as your best self.

Area 4: Romantic Productivity: Planning Your Week Without Stress!

The important part of planning your week is that it shouldnt feel overwhelming, and you should not feel a sense of dread for the days to come. This is a time to be intentional about creating the balance. Whether its a a few too many meetings at work, a presentation youre nervous about, an exam you need to study for, or a deadline to meet, juggling life’s responsibilities can feel like alot. Thats where a little extra planning in your Sunday reset routine goes a long way. Setting aside time to catch a movie, or carving out time to get a manicure and pedicure. This is where you prioritize caring for yourself just as much as your outside responsibilities. This is where balance invites more intention.

  1. Write out your top 3 priorities for the week. You could finish these all by mid-week, or you could tackle them in a day, giving yourself even more wiggle room. Mapping out your clear priorities for the week also ensures that no matter what happens the things that matter most don’t fall victim to anything else. Even completing these three things will leave you with a sense of accomplishment.

  2. Create a grocery list + grocery shopping. Even if you just grocery shop on Sunday, and meal prep on Monday, this saves you loads of time in the kitchen during your week!

  3. Plan your meals. Whether its meal prepping or you enjoy the act of cooking a nice dinner each evening, simple having the recipe, groceries, and schedule planned out will help avoid any added stress to your week.

  4. Plan at least one “Me Activity”. Don’t skip this, in fact some weeks this may fall under yout Top 3 Priorities list. No matter how busy you are, many times we’ve given so much to everyone and everything else that we’re totally okay sacrificing the time for ourselves. What would life look like if on Thursdays you said with confidence “I’d love to, but I already have an engagement”, and it was simply you catching a play at your local theatre or baking a new recipe at home. That’s what it looks like to make you a priority. You deserve it.

Area 5: Clean Your Digital Space

Sometimes you just need to go offline. A Sunday reset is the perfect opportunity to simply go offline And be present with as little digital distractions as possible. Instead of the tempation of scrolling on Tik Tok, or comparison on Instagram, pick up a book that’s been on your TBR list for a while, or do a more physical activity like painting, needlepoint, or visit a museum. Even better instead of texting or calling a friend, meet up to chat with them in person!

How to Romanticize Your Sunday Reset Routine

What makes a Sunday reset feel more inviting and less like just another chore is finding beauty in the acts. Making each small moment its own moment. When you wake up on a Sunday morning instead of just jumping into your routine, drop a needle on your favorite vinyl record, or queue a playlist on your speaker. When preparing for bed and going through your night routine, brew your favorite tea even if it takes a few extra minutes. Popping in to your favorite coffee shop for your go-to order, or sitting down to journal pulling out your favorite ink pen with your favorite journal. It’s not what you do, as much as it is how you do it. Each tender action is a stitch in weaving together the life of your dreams.

Your Week Begins Tonight

The Sunday Reset routine is not about doing it all. It’s simply about doing what matter. Having moments of rest without guilt, and being productive in ways that reaffirm the woman that you are becoming. And that looks like honoring your time, your body, and your space. Treat each Sunday as a new chapter. Another just to begin again, and again.
